Well, small world isn't it. Bland is great. I grew up in Smyth County. Been here about ten years. If you ever wanted to get away from it all, Bland in the place to do it cause "it all" ain't ever been there. Great place to do about anything related to nature. Right across the line in Ceres which is in Smyth County, they're developing 1400+ acres for a gated community / resort thing. Most of the investors are NASCAR folks (drivers, owners, etc.)

You need to use an old school method I know.. First drive 2 iron poles into the gound on each side of the weeds. Next cut the cord from an old toster or whatever and strip back both wires, Connect one to each pole and pour one can of beer over area and STAND BACK as you plug the cord into the nearest 110 outlet.........Zap it electrocutes the weed
