hey guys! long time no talk.
sorry i didnt make it to the big meet up a while back.
anyways, as some of you may know i am selling my 1990 f150. it doesnt seem to be moving, but i am looking for a cheap truck to bomb around it for the summer.
main goal is an older ford, a flatty would be awesome but anything would do. the plan is to bomb around in it and slowly morph it into the truck for my Cheap Truck Draggin Low Beater Challenge if any of you remeber that.
anyone know of anything?
how was draggin's this year? i didnt go, same old stuff.
how are all of ya'll?!
Heya Marshall! Nice to see ya back to the land of the fords! Ive seen your truck on kijiji, and it sure looks good!
As for a flatty, what kind of truck would you be looking for exactly? My uncle that passed away has a few f68's with flatties in them out at his farm that are going to be sold. They arent really get in and drive trucks though, they would need some work.
Nothing much on this end. Couple of saveable motors I guess. Unless youre ready to drop 3-5 grand without thinking twice I dont consider a quick patch up flatty powered project the right option. If your wanting a cheap early fords project, get a old Ford 1 ton with a dead or no motor and drop in a SBC. It isnt the prettist or smartest option but its cheap and quick
My uncles trucks would need some work for sure but as for how much exactly i dont know. Next time i am out there I am gonna take a ton of pictures and try to organize them, and throw them up on my website.
looking forward to it!
i know of a nice F-68(i think thats what it is) i have to talk to someone about. not sure about the engine but it has a 4 speed on the floor. only problem cosmetically that i could see after a quick look over was a cracked passenger window.
dont want to spend 20k
the 1949 f-68 is a no go. he wants $3300 for it.
dang. there is a nice ford courier of kijiji but the guy hasnt e-mailed me back
Im sure we would let a f68 of my uncles go for alot less then 3k. I am planning on heading out there to do some work with my backhoe pretty soon so if ya dont get anything by then i will make sure I fill ya in more!
Not to mention the other down falls of a 1 ton, having a 80 busell box that looks too tall, taller fenders for 6.00x17 inch tires, 40mph top speed, the split rear end, clumsy seering. Then all the famfied parts. Just know what your getting into.
I`d prefer 3 on the tree.
Your right Ryan, it`s a heavier built 3 sp with an extra low granny gear that`s pretty much useless unless you have a big load to start rolling. Just that it seems to be harder and slower to shift from what I remember.
