After waiting longer than I should have to receive my ebay Y pipe, I have to admit it is a pleasent surprise.
I have a 99 F350 CC LB with 4.30 gears used to tow a 3400lb boat and haul a 3500lb camper. (many suspension and tire mods to do so.) I have only put 30 miles on it since install of the Y and FM70 but this is without a doubt the best mod made.
The partial throttle response is much better and it holds O/D easier without downshifting on grades. Nailing it off the line turns the tires with ease.
The other mods I have made are a Volant CAI, and a Superchips 1715 tune to 87 octane, the tune helps with the shift points. Maybe it is everything working together?
The last mod was the Y and FM70 and it produced the best seat of the pants performance. The sound is a little ricey but not too loud or overbearing.
I could believe the better MPG claims do to the better partial throttle response, time will tell. At this point I would definetly reccommend doing this mod if thinking about it. I thank other members for steering me to this combination as I am satisfied!
I already have a Y pipe on my V10, been there for almost 2 years. More power, more snap. No increase in Mileage. But when I made the switch to straight synthetic oil, and that made a difference.
I had it installed. It took the shop 2.5 hrs to do both the muffler and the Y, I was there waiting. It was their first one and they did not have any problems.I decided I did not want to try welding this laying on my back a foot from my face. I am sure it could be done without a lift, but I was not going to try it.
Saggys, I Knew you would be happy with it, & I ended up staying with the 87 tune as well, and now you know to... that y-pipe gives good bang for the buck!
