We have a couple in the same spots. I wish we had central air.
The one in the bedroom is a 10.5k unit and the big one is around 25k. I could put central into the house, but it just does not make sense becasue the main reason for the bedroom one is because of my wife's alergies. She can not sleep with a window open due to the pollens and stuff. It would be a waste to run central from mid May to early October for the purpose of her sleeping.
ahh me see now... that was such a line to come in on... lol
we just replaced ours last summer... original unit was a carrier... lasted 18 yrs... (not bad imo).. it had been serviced a few times and 3rd time it quit we just decided to replace it... ended up getting a Trane XL16i unit mainly cuz they had the better deal... nice thing with this one is it keeps the house more equalized than the other one did cuz it continuously circulates the air throughout the house.. where the other stopped when the other part shut off.. its much more efficient... electric bill went down.. and outside pumps running less than the other one did..
We ended up buying our house from the guys we were renting from. While we were still renting the installed a new furnace. We tried to convince them to add central air. Had them thinking but in the end no luck.

hmm never heard of them... but that doesnt mean anything.. tons of companys out there.... they could probably still add an a/c pump to it... my grandfather didnt have a/c till a couple yrs ago when temps started climbing in the area... he use to have a wood stove to heat the house till it cracked now hes back on the oil tanks to heat the house... and they just put the a/c right into his exsisting unit... put the compressor thing outside and piped it right into the inside unit...
