Howdy my American bro's
I can get a Banks 4" turbo back exhaust here in AUS for $1600 AUD
+ another $ 400 for the power elbow Banks Power | 99-03 Ford - 7.3L Power Stroke>>Banks Power Elbow? Assembly
What benefit do you get from the elbow and is it worth $ 400
And b4 u all start with the WAT $1600 bucks , ya gotta remember we dont have the resources available to us like u guys do
You should be able to get a full 4" turbo-back exhaust for much cheaper, even with shipping "Down Under". In the end, you'll end up with the same quality and performance (assuming you get the same grade stainless steel and not an aluminized kit).
The Banks exhaust with the Power Elbow is an extremely expensive kit compared to most others, and you won't notice a single bit of difference in performance between the Banks exhaust and other brands.
Most popular exhaust choices are typically MBRP or Magnaflow. There are some other brands available too. A few sponsors here will also ship to our Aussie friends. So that might be one way to save a bit of money.
The word ''Banks'' just makes the price higher and does not mean better quality just as Curtis said.We are all here for better mod prices and as he said they are available.PM Clay(Riffraff)he will shoot ya straight and may be able to help you out.
''No worries''

Correct. Pro series is 304 steel (more expensive), and the XP series is 409 (midgrade exhaust system, same steel that is used on the Banks exhaust). Then you have the installer series that is the aluminized exhaust. This is the exhaust that will eventually rust out. I have no idea what the rust issues are like in Australia, but personally on my truck I have the XP series installed.
I bought my exhaust from David Lott at Diesel Innovations. Dennis at ITP Diesel is another person I have purchased quite a few items from. I think one or both of them have shipped to Australia before. Not sure if Clay has ever shipped overseas yet. Not sure why he hasn't responded to you yet. I've purchased something from him already and communication was instant.
Good luck with whatever you go with. Getting Superduty parts in Australia is an expensive adventure at times, so hopefully there's a way for you to save some money.
Another thing I would add is to double check to make sure that the exhaust system will work with Aussie trucks (right hand drivers). Since you guys have the whole steering column on the exhaust side, I'm wondering what the clearance is like. I think someone else may have posted up before about it, but I don't remember what the verdict was.

good point Cutris..check this out..it looks tight..but not any tighter then ours..this is Brains truck..
Yeh
We do have an issue with the drivers side (thats our) firewall. There is a seem where two panels are joined. That has to be pushed back with a porta power or the like. Most over here have 3.5" downpipe then 4", but I cant see the point of that
your down pipe should be 3.5 inch now correct?? we go to a 4 inch for lower EGT's and bettter flow.it does a better job at it then the Banks power elbow...
Stock downpipe is a 3", then flares out to a 3.5" exhaust back to the tailpipe.
For most trucks with mild or stock power, there is hardly a difference in EGT's between a 3.5" downpipe and a 4" downpipe, especially if the rest of the exhaust system is a 4" or larger setup.
So if you order a 3.5" downpipe, you'll be just fine.
BTW, Lott's Snow White ran low 11's using a 3.5" downpipe.

been so long since i looked at mine..for some reason i thought OBS trucks had 3" and the SD had 3.5"...thanks Curtis..
Just curious what your exhange rate is? That may be a big reason for the price difference.
SS will likely last a bit longer (depending on grade) than aluminized but honestly the aluminized will last almost forever too. I'd say 10+ years minimum. They almost seem to rust up faster when you let them sit for long periods as they don't burn off the moisture so if you drive it regularly most likely either will last you just fine.
Not trying to steer you away from SS just saying rust isn't much of an issue and won't be rusting out anytime soon. If there is a big price difference aluminized might not be a bad choice. But it seems more and more the ss kits are comming down so much in price they almost make more sense anyway.
at the moment its about 70c to the dollar.
4 inch will fit mate with a couple of taps here and there, like curtis sais it will be cheaper from the states, personally i would wait for clay to respond to your email and while your waiting find some other stuff to ship with it like a W/W or housing, OBA, DP tuner, and all the other small stuff that wont add much weight to the pack but it will save you heaps in the long run on shipping dude, trust me i was going to buy all my stuff separatly but after i worked it out not worth it. i found dennis at ITP to be helpfull but the price for shipping from him was crazy and at the time clay didnt have his bussiness running yet otherwise i would have customized a kit with him. my cheapest alternative at the time was to ship a banks kit, but there is some stuff in there i havint used as i opted for the DP tuner instead of there chip.
In my opinion 3.5" running into 4" is effectively a 3.5" systems.
4 " can be done, just means a bit of stuffn around with the downpipe. I have spoken to peeps over here who have done it.
The exchage atm is around 0.72 AUD for 1 USD.
So 500 USD is around 650 AUD + visa charge 2.5% and then there's freight.
So Im lookn around 1000 AUD.
thats a big difference to the 1600 to 2200 I have been quoted here.
And a big thanks to Curtis, I have hooked up with David form Innovative Diesel. We are organizing it.
Anyways, its 8am sundie morning, Im off to the car market to try and sell my other ute. http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/...=CarAll&Nne=15
wish me luk. no one is buying anything out here atm
