I finally tracked down my oil leak and it is the "non serviceable" plug. Found out why they call it that. The thing is stripped out. It came right out almost by hand, I thought cool this will be easy. Wrong!! I went to put it back in and it wont tighten up at all. Just spins.
boy-oh-boy. i tell ya. I personally would be buying one from my local International dealer (Brattain) they beat Ford's pricing. However, first i would talk to someone about fixing it. I recently re-tapped my motorcycle drain plug in aluminum. i've tapped other things before, but was worred about it for some reason. can you get to the inside and plug it with a cloth so to make sure you would get all shavings?
do all you people think this is fixable? I'm not familiar with the "non-serviceable plug" but i know i like to buck a trend to save $400.
I dont think I am going to mess with it. The plug has some sort of rod attached to it so it probably has to be set at an exact depth or something. If it was just a normal plug I would gladly tap it out and put a little larger plug in it. I will call Dieselsite tomorrow and chat with them. I really dont have the 500 bucks, but I need my pickup. The bad thing is their website says 2-3 weeks for a new pump. That is what really sucks!! I have to go to Montana sometime this coming week and need to pull my skidsteer. My wife needs the X so I guess I'll have to go steal my dads 01 for a couple of weeks.
Oh well just another thing to spend money on I dont have!! I sure hope this economy picks up so I can start working again!!LOL!
Well that just gives me some hope! Thanks for the link Ron. Looks like I need to make a trip to the IH dealer in the morning!! At least when my wife wakes up I can tell there is a chance to fix it. I told her my problem just as she was going to bed.
I would like a fancy new pump, but right now 500 bucks is a strain to say the least.
If you decide to replace it, you should give Bob from the Diesel site a call. His replacement adrenaline pump is cheaper then you get from ford, plus its a better performer as well. (I have one)

Right now I am debating on just replacing it. If I do that is who I am calling. As loose as the plug is I am worried about whether the IH one will cure the problem.
didn't even know they sold them lol..Jody gave me that link along time ago when I was converting to the 99.5..he said the Delphi is about the best stock pump you can get...$360 is a good price for a stock pump..
That is a good price. I went ahead and ordered one from Bob this afternoon. I not too sure my core is going to be any good though. My friend thought he was helping me by running some sort of thread cleaning tool in to the hole and I think it may have screwed it up. If I cant get a good core then I may just get the stock one from Blue Ridge as the price plus the core would only be 510 as I read it on the website. We will see!
I ordered the adrenaline, but then canceled the order because a friend of mine up in MT had an extra stock HPOP he let me have really cheap. Beings I am unemployed I had to go that route. Big thanks to Bob at diesel site for understanding!! I was up in MT for 2 wks while my poor pickup sat torn apart in my garage (at least I had a psd to drive, stole my dad's 01). Picked up a fuel bowl o-ring kit from Bob(guzzle) yesterday and put everything together last night. This is by far the most involved project I have done to date on my pickup. Wasn't really hard, just have that question in the back of your head second guessing where everything goes and such.
Anyhow got it together last night, but it wouldn't fire. Instead of keeping my wife up (who does have job and has to go to work in the morning) I called it a night. This morning pushed it out of the garage and jumped it with my dad's pickup because the batteries seemed a little weak. Still no go, Looked around at everything and noticed the IPR was loose. Tightened it up and she fired right up. No leaks and running smooth.
Just wanted to thank you guys here at FTE. If I didn't have this site I would have had to figure out how to get a dealer or mechanic to do all this. A little tough when income is limited!!
