I am looking on ebay at a used tuner, its a diablosport predator. The bids start at 100 buy it now for 200. Any problems with buying a used tuner that I should know about...
once you use it on a vehicle, that tuner becomes VIN locked to that vehicle. The only way to unlock it is to return the vehicle to the OEM stock programming.
Be carefull with used tuners because people like to program their trucks/cars, then sell the tuner...which is now worthless. Diablosport charges I think $150 to unlock a tuner. The other guys don't even offer that service that I"m aware of.
Visit the Diablosport mainpage and make sure the model # is for your truck. And check their forums.
I'd say you are good to go if they Tuner is unlocked, and visually seems to be in good condition. You also have Paypal on your side if it arrives DOA, or isn't unlocked
Like said it might be vin locked. I would just buy new and you get what you want and you know that its not used. Plus if you buy a new one they come with a year warranty on the tuner. I would talk to Mike from 5 star tuning and maybe he can hook you up with something.
I think Super Chips will unlock one of their tuners also. You will need to enclose a copy of the receipt from purchase to get it done. But I agree with most on here, buy new and save yourself some problems.
