steering issues

i have an 87 b-2, and people say the steering is realy quick, as in no stiffness. i have no problems with it, but am wondering if there is a way to tighten the steering up. there is very little play, its just really very little resistance when you turn the wheel...

Sounds normal to me, my '87 is the same way. I have no play in the steering I know of. If any, it's barely even noticeable.

Your girlfriend compared your BII's steering to her Jeep's? That's the problem right there! Sorry, had to

rofl!! she says she noticed it drives different sincew i put a more open agressive treaded tire on it, makes sense to me, less rubber on the road= less resistance.

Eh, well. I've driven a 'comparable' Jeep and my BII. They do not act alike, IMO.

Our '89 you can turn the wheel with a sharp pencil and not break the lead. Yeah it's that loose/easy to turn, and all the parts are within spec. Could be something along the lines of the gear box pre-load not correct, however if it's not broke? Don't fix it.

Sounds normal to me, unless there is slop. The B2 has a very easy to turn AND responsive steering system. Which is why I think some people flip them at highway speed.
