I thought I was doing okay with 16mpg overall (maybe a little less on weekends ).

I'm still on the original up-pipes and thought I was alright. I was saving the replacement for when I tear that whole back side down and was going to do exhaust, WW, turbo rebuild, up-pipes and EBPV-delete pedestal and new o-rings (that whole project is being driven by the oil weepage from my turbo pedestal and is being delayed by the $$$ to get all the parts). Now I'm going to have to crawl back there with a flashlight and my camera and take a look! I might have to talk to the wife and move the weekend project up a bit.

I can see it now...

Me: "Honey I need to get a few parts for the truck..."
Her: "How much?"
Me: "$$$$$$$$$$$$$, but I can save $$$$$ if I do the all the labor myself."
Her: followed by "Why did we buy this truck again?!!!?!?!"
Me: "Because it's a great truck and fixing it is cheaper than buying a new one."
Her: "Go ahead."

Then I'll spend the weekend because all of the parts are rusted/frozen from 178K of heat, weather and use until I'm finally done after dark on a Sunday night

After that we'll head out, go camping and head into the desert/woods for some off-road exploring and fun and all will be well again !

Until the next repair/modification comes along and "Honey..."...and the cycle begins again!!!!

I've been reading that the ceramic coated ones are better than the stock for energy transfer of the hot gases making the turbo spool etc.. ( just cause I say it doesn't mean I actually know what I am talking about? lol ) It sort of makes sense to me, so I found these and am thinking about them unless anyone knows something I don't yet? Also, they look good too, and got me thinking about coating the turbo housing as well? Thoughts?

For $1250 I'll take an actual Garrett 'drop-in' GTP38R ball-bearing turbo instead just FEELING like I have a new turbo!!!

How much alcohol and drugs did she ingest before she gave you the "Go Ahead"?

I get the "You have got to be @!#$@# me. Why is this truck broke down all the time? You spend $$$$$ on it and it still breaks down? When was the last breakdown? Barely 2 months ago and you needed to fix it then. Now it is broken again?????". Seems like it "breaks down" very often. Usually when we get enough money for something new. The intercooler was kinda on the fritz so we need to get the new 6.0 intercooler. Well, the injectors were dirty at 100K and so while they were out, I though I'd get a new set of single shot Stage II injectors. They are clean so I won't have to clean them. The exhaust is old and has rust on it. It might rust thru and be dangerous so we best change it while we can.

I had me younger than that too. Not quite sure how she got so old. Seems like last month she was only 5.

I've got a stick and drive like a grandpa, so my mileage will be better than most.

Feel free. Also use the "safety angle". I bought 5 new SS braided brake hoses for the truck. Safety factor. You don't want the brake lines to break and mushy brakes are unsafe. I know the kit costs $180 for the 2 fronts and 1 back but you best make sure the back are done too. Another "safety item".

What a coincidence. I'm sure many get that too.

Really ! ? I thought they were like 1800- 2000.00? Man I'd definitely go for the turbo too, but that ones gonna have to wait. Mines still tight from the last rebuild. Did anyone see the headers though ? Until Clay goes ceramic are these about right?
