ok guys i need help again.. i havnt driven my truck since friday i go to start it to go in town and i have nothen. so i go charge the batteries and it runs fine no batterie light and the charge is normal but when i take a volt reading it is only 12 volts with the truck running.. i check the alternater and it is only 12 volts coming out is this right .. i thought with the truck running shouldnt it b up closer to 14 volts.. any help would b great
thats what i figured but wouldnt i have had the batterie light or anything let me know that it was going.. what kind of brand should i go for with a new alternater.
That battery light is very stubborn. Definitely should be 14+.
I went with a NEW auto zone alternator and havent had a problem since. Ive heard some of the remans dont last too long but you still get a good warranty regardless.
Tristan got that right. Sometimes they work sometimes they don't. Get a new alt and not a reman. If you want a higher output and can wait a few days DB has the best deals
