Dies in drive

Friend of mine son has a 95 250 7.3 which has just started to die when you put it in drive. Does not die if in reverse or if shifted into lower gears. Not sure if it will go after starting out and shifting manually. Does this sound like the tc. What to check?

kind of sounds like a converter clutch locking. have you checked line pressure?

x2 with Joe. also does it act like a 5 speed tryin to take off in high gear before it stalls? i know when i lock my tc up the whole truck jumps and stalls out like a 5 speed. but doesnt do it in reverse
