Well have all the meat stuffs sorted into seperate tupperware and all the dry goods sorted into as tote-- so I won't starve :-) going to try tonight for packing the truck stuff, and tomorrow for the camping gear.
Made it to Colorado. Only took 9 days. I'm at Larmartine. Should be in Denver this afternoon. I did not bring an extra tarp or my polls for a leen to. Didn't work for some reason last year. But folks want to get with Clint he can get them for you. I may have an extra small tarp.
Seems there is an old Pass Patrol reunion sometime soon. Caveman is gonna go check out some stuff tomorrow evening. So the plan is to go out to the campsite tomorrow then meet up with Caveman for a scouting trip. Mike(Caveman) and Larry(Outlaw) said there were campsites lower on the Middle Fork Swan that were accessable by car. I think check out is 10:00. I found some $3 a bundle firewood. Gonna get that after I check out. Then get ice and fuel and head for Breckenridge to find campsites. May move that from the location on the map files I shared. Then go and meet Mike. Then back to camp. I'll post and e-mail gps on the campsite when I can.
I have a great camping spot but it's really to good to last To clean, to flat, to big, to close to town. Delorme says it's public property. But it's wrong a lot so that don't mean a lot. I expect to be run out. If I am thenthe only places I could find were up the trail a bit. All the low ones were taken.
Truck cleaned out, Tent, sleeping bags, BBQ grill, other gear, truck fluids, and tools all loaded. Spare tire loaded and everything is tied down. Cleaned out the coolers (even Troy's from last year)
Just have to go to Jewell get dad's truck/trailer come back and tie everything down- get my tow bar from Clint, adn I should be ready to go?
Now if I check on my mom and everything is stable there I should be out the door Sat morning.
Yuse guys aren't pay'n me nuff fer this. Anyway. Found a FS map and according to it I was on private property. So I moved to a camp site just inside public property. I wouldn't want to camp there this weekend. It's small, right on the road and everyone would drive by. If it stops raining it will be dust bowl central. Then I went to find a real campsite. Or closer to one. All the best ones were taken. But I did find a large site on the Middle fork Swan trail that we should be able to get all the trucks to. And cars if we take it slow and easy. A bit rougher than to Cunningham last year but not much. There are large fire rings and plenty of room. It is in the open and if it drys out it will be dusty. Lots of beaver ponds so I expect the skeeters will be hungry. Camp is 10.5 miles from the 7-11 in Breckenridge and took me 25 minutes to get there. I had 3 bars of cell servive 10 minutes from camp at thr FS info board and full bars and air card at the Golf Course 5 minutes after that.
Now if it stops raining to day I have a tent to move. Then tomorrow I will get Green ready fer riders. I plan to meet folks in Frisco on Saturday. Take folks to camp and get a shower. Most likely I will get a shower in Fairplay when we do Weston and one in Buena Vista when we do Tincup.
There are no facilities at camp or between camp and the 7-11. Jus hav ta be a bear. Ya know when ya ask folks a question and they answere do a bear poop in the woods. Use ta be a book on poopn in the woods.
Fer you folks who notice a shortcut from camp straight west to town, well thats kind o like Black Bear. I did some of it last night. I did have to use low range and if folks want ta take an hour ur so we kin see if it goes through.
Well back to camp to watch it rain. Questions can be submited in writting post marked no earlier than August 10th 3010. A $1,000 bank draft must be included for each question. Questions will not be answered till the drafts clear. (Did I git fired yet?)
