So I have a truck here in the fleet that died and won't restart. Did some searching around, found the ICP voltage jumping around a lot upon cranking. ICP and pigtail is new about a month ago. Next step I want to removal the IPR solenoid but can't figure out the right tool to do it. OTC wants about $150 for the freaking socket. I took a 1 1/8" deep socket, cut a notch for the connector, but it won't fit around the body of the solenoid. It looks like some IPR's have a nut on the end so you can take the coil off of the valve, this one does not, and I can't even turn the coil. Truck is an early '03 F250 about 90K miles. Need help!!! Thanks
There should be a nut on the IPR that holds the coil on.
The coil should slide right off after removing the nut.
Your socket should work after that, some sockets are not deep enough to allow the ratchet full engagement, but you should still be able to get the IPR w/ it.
Is there any possibility you are not at the IPR ?
You're description dosen't sound right. If it is I've never seen one like it before.
(you said it was new,how did it get changed before?)
