Hi there... I found this forum a few weeks ago, and after reading through it, I decided to take the plunge and join up.
First things first. I have an 08 F150 FX4 Super Crew. I purchased it brand new in Feb 08 from Mills Ford in Anaheim, CA. It's the first truck I've ever owned. I've had a myriad of different vehicles in my life (Acura, Nissan, Ford Explorer, etc.). After a little over a year of driving my Ford Truck, I can say with 100% honesty that I absolutely LOVE my truck. It's the most fun I've ever had driving, and I will never be without a truck in my garage ever again. I think the Ford is the best looking truck out there by far, but I wish the engine had a tad bit more power.
I'm a total noob when it comes to modifications. I have absolutely zero expreience or knowledge as to what to do, or even what the terminology is. I saw some of the pictures of some of your trucks on here, and I wanna do some modifications (mostly interested in making the engine more powerful/efficient, and maybe lifting it a tad and getting new wheels). My question is, if I do these minor modifications, will it invalidate my ESP premium care warranty?
Lastly, has anyone else experienced this problem - after the engine is warm and I've been driving for a bit, I'm finding that when I come to a complete stop, I get a loud vibrating noise from the engine compartment, but only when the trans is in drive. Once I switch it to neutral, the vibrating noise stops.
Thanks for your help, and I look forward to getting to know people here.
Congrats on the new truck. I would suggest a custom tune if you plan on keeping the truck for any length of time. It makes a world of difference. There are a few guys on this site and the other F-150 site that do it. I went with Troyer but the others are probably just as good. Do a search for custom tune or tuning and you can read for days. lol As far as the vibration I would take it back to the dealer. I haven't had that issue. I would defenitely do the custom tune before anything else. IMHO you will get more enjoyment out of that. Then do an exhuast.
Check your intake tubing. It can, and will become loose, resulting in a resonating vibration. Open the hood, start the engine, let it warm up, set the E-brake and chock the wheels. Put it in drive then start poking around in the engine compartment. You will find your problem.
