I have a ,04 that just recently started smoking really bad the first 5 to 10 min. that I am driving. no smoke when its warming up ,but once I start driving it is terrible looks white and very thick. all gauges look fine and the truck runs fine. Any ideas?

I know nothing compared to these deisel gurus on here,,but i'm betting on an EGR cooler leaking..Ck your coolant level...Does your truck have any warranty left ?? If it does ,get it to a dealer fast.

you are seeing the leak coming out of your exhaust. your EGR cooler cracked and is burning the coolant (white smoke) sending it through your intake and so on and so forth. like what was stated above if you still have a warranty take it to the dealership and let them fix it. it's not a very cheap fix.

pull your egr valve out and check for liquid on it and in the intake. if it's the cooler leaking you can save yourself lots of dollars if you delete it.mine smoked about the same as yours when it went out.the total bill was 2600 bucks..........ouch!

Have them check your oil cooler too. See if you have any oil leaks or any other "minor" things you have noticed. Now is the time to get them fixed. My warranty expired yesterday and about 2 months ago I took mine in with a very picky detailed list of "things" to fix. The main one was the egr cooler... the truck was smoking for the first few minutes in the morning. Good luck!
