99 Lightning intercooler
strange but true I got my 99 #3358 back from the SVT Bodyshop a week ago and noticed a pinging. I thought it was bad gas that the body guys had put in, but low and behold I was about a half a gallon low in my intercooler overflow tank. I never noticed the problem before so I hope it didn't crack inside the manifold. I'll update this post next week after I put a few miles on it.

Go ahead and take it to the Ford dealer. They have a recall on this. I guess they did not send out recall letters because they all are not faulty and did not want to replace all of them. Dont worry about taerring anything up. The technician at my dealership assured me it would not harm anything. It only reduces your hp. because the air being forced into the intake is hot instead of cold. I just got mine back today and notice just slightly more hp. (seat of the pants). Tey had to order a new intercooler. It only took a couple of hours to fix it once they got all of the parts. How long have you had yuors? How many miles? Any Mods? I have had mine for three weeks. I noticed the intercooler leak after driving it for two weeks and it did no damage so no need to worry.

The reservoir is located behind the radiator on the passenger side. It is a clear plastic container with a black top. It should be full of an antifreeze and water mix. Although it has way too much antifreeze. I have been talking to a ford specialist about a bigger reservoir. He tells me the stock ones are too small and after two or three passes at the drag strip the water heats up too much and the intercooler is ineffective. He is going to sell me an eight gallon fuel cell to mount in the bed of my truck to use for a reservoir. Has anyone else done this conversion. This guy has done this on several supercharged mustangs and said it works great.
