Rear end clanging in reverse
When I back up in reverse, I hear a clang noise from the rear end. It goes away once I fully release the clutch pedal. It never happens in 1st 2nd or 3rd(1975 F100 390 3 speed), only in reverse. I was told that the clutch has recently been replaced. The U-joints in the back (I have the 2 piece driveshaft) also keep going bad every 10 months or so. Thats another reason I think its the rear end.
Which leads me to my question, is it really that difficult to rebuild a rear end (buy a ring and pinion kit)? Or should I try somethign else? Thanks,

Thanks fdor the reply! It isnt a little country town anymore. Its like Falls Church, Arlington,. Alexandria, or any other close in suburban city. My uncle had a farm here back in the 70s but he sold out and since then its been geting developed at an alarming rate. I wish it was back the way it was when I was coimng up but oh well.
Back to the rear end, when you say clanging between the gears what do you mean? The gears in the tranny or the rear end. It isnt a clang so much as a bucking...
