Well it all started today,i was driving through town took a right hand turn.and when i straitend the wheels out, itfelt like they were shaking back and forth,so i sped up to see if it stoped and it made it worse.I came to a stop sign took off and it wasnt doing it.got on the high way running about 65mph and all of a sudden took off to the left and started shaking and going all over the road again and a little while later it stoped..i got home jacked up the front driver side tire,i couldnt find any play in the wheel. It spun easy no noises,so i locked the hub and spun it,with the wheel strait it spun easy but with the wheel's turned it binds up and pulls on the other tire.So that sounds like a bad ujoint,i hope its not some thing in the front diff..so it seems like some how the front diver side axel is spining off and on goin down the road..but im not shure because with the hub unlocked every thing is smooth when i spin the tire..What could be cousing this to happen???Its scary when it happens at 65...sorry for thelong post..
Something has to be seriously loose for it to act like that.
Try getting the wheels a few inches off the ground and stick a pipe under the wheel, like a pry bar and put some real pressure on the ball joints, tie rods, etc.
I checked the ball joints the other day.i had the tire about 1 in off the ground, and used a pry bar to check them...they had no visuall play but if u have your hand on top of the tire you can barly feel a little play,so i would say there tight.
Sounds a lot like mine did a while back when my caliper was sticking. Drive it a short distance and if it does it again, check the rotors to see which one is smoking hot.
Mine caused my whole truck to shake like it was coming apart for a few seconds, then stop only to start again the next time I touched the brakes. Good thing is it didn't cause any permanent damage to my Hawk pads or Power Slot Cyro rotors. Guess the extra money was worth it.

I don't think it is supposed to pull on the other wheel no matter how far you turn the wheels if the hubs are unlocked.
do you have the auto hubs? sounds siminliar to what i just went through. I think what happen was I used the 4x4 when i turned it off it didnt unlock the hubs and i drove who knows how long with them like that. smoked both front hub assemblys.the needle bearings where toast. it did make a really weird noise like you describe and make the wheel shake. hope this helps.
You my friend have the "Death Wobble" ask any jeep guy and he will tell you what it is.
Basically your front end is worn out and when you hit a bump good enough on one tire it will cause the steering wheel to shake vigorously. The only way to stop it is to jerk the wheel hard one way or the other. Bring your truck in and get a front end inspected they will tell you your pitman arm, tierods are bad.

I dont believe I caused it by not locking or unlocking, but I to had the shakes, found it to be the bearing assembly. I confirmed this by locking ht ehubs and trying it, then unlocking, then locking one side at a time to find out where it was happening at.
I had the same problem over a year ago. I tried to explain it here and didn't really get anywhere. I had the inspection done and found everything was ok. Not sure why it happened but it hasn't done it in over a year. I follow all the threads that appear to be the same issue and I don't think anyone has really been able to confirm a positive fix. It does feel like the front wheels are falling off. It's hard to hold the steering wheel straight. It does go away after a few minutes. If it were a worn part I would expect it to continue to appear. Keeping my fingers crossed but it hasn't happened for several months.
