Header help.

Buying new headers for my truck. What is the difference between chassis exit headers and fender well exits?

That sounds like long tube vs short tube. I'd speculate that fender well exit are shorties and have the hook ups up near the inner fender liner. Where as the chassis exit have the hook ups down near the frame.

Long tubes develop more torque on gas engines, and shorties do more for high RPM power. Whether this holds on a diesel I don't know.

You don't need headers on a diesel. (With a turbo anyways.)

With his signature, he's either shopping for the 78 or the Excursion, being the Excursion forum, I took a guess.

Diesels have some kind of exhaust manifold and I've heard of getting tubular/modified exhaust. I can't remember why on a turbo application other than for adding or upgrading turbos. I don't particularly like diesels so I haven't paid much attention to whats available for them, I'm just guessing to try and help him out.

It's for my Bronco, but I received no help help in that forum, so I thought to give this one a shot. Thanks for the help.

For the 351M, you want long tube headers. It's a torquey B to start with but more never hurts. I think thrush ( a division of Dynomax/Walker) had some decent low cost long tubes for your motor.
