So yesterday I did some mudding and we were hitting some mud holes with some water in them and the first time i hit the water my ford turn off it took a few times then it started up. I lifted the hood and the distributor cap was high and dry same with the coil . the rest of the time in that same hole it did fine later that day i hit a deep hole with some water and it shut off again took a few minutes to start again it started up and i made it through i had to turn around and hit it again to get home it died again in this deep hole and same start up with the other what do you think is causing my motor to die?
Please use a reasonable amount of punctuation in your posts.
Water is a conductor, and it can short out electrical contacts, causing the truck to shut off if those contacts are in the ignition circuit. The exact place in the circuit that's shorting out depends on how deep you got in the water, and how you've got your engine bay laid out. Because of all the possibilities, it's literally impossible to make that call over the internet, but all anyone is going to be able to tell you for sure is that something shorted out. You'll have to look around the engine bay and underneath the truck with a flash light. Keep an eye out for open insulation. Pay special attention to the area around the starter solenoid, because that area has the most open contacts.
The other possibility, of course, is that you literally sucked water into the air cleaner.

I think FMC is talking about that being a run on sentence.
I don't know about the cutting out, it probably was just some water down the carb. Good luck, and let us know what you find out.
Your post was very hard to read, because it was pretty much one giant sentence. If you just put in some periods and commas to make it a little easier on the eyes, people will be able to understand you better and you'll get more helpful responses. I had to read your post 3 or 4 times to figure out what you were asking.
