wondering what this is in the engine compartment

wondering what this is on my 2001 f150 4x4 5.4L. Its on the right side of the engine comp. looking at the engine. Its down low in an opening, next to the washer fluid resivoir, but down near where the upper control arms mount. It kinda looks like a fuel filter with a line running in it and out the other side. Probably a newb question, but id like to know what it is:P

Yup that would be it, the cylinder thing held down by the same clip that holds in the fuel filter. Thanks for adding the pic for me, i havent gotten a chance to take one yet. So what is it?

If the compressor fails is a way that debris gets into the system this will catch most of it. If this happened the whole line would have to be replaced.
