I found a 5spd out of a 89 F150. I realize that this isnt going to be as strong as the ZF but its only 100 bucks for the trans and transfer case. Can this trans be converted to work with a 351W two wheen drive truck? Would I have to change the tailshaft on it?
I dont see how. I've run trucks with no front driveshaft before. As long as the front DS output has a fixed yoke so the fluid doesn't leak out. All it will do is add extra weight to the truck. It's something you could do until you found a 2wd tranny, the only thing is that you would have to have your driveshaft shortened and then lengthened. Heck, $100 is a good deal, grab it and sell it for more to help buy the tranny you need.
