Okay guys its been a little while since ive been on staying away seems to save me money you know the dreaded PMS but I have started haveing random problems
On the highway the truck will randomly die once completely got it off the road turned the key off and back on and she ran perfectly. Then a month or so later she would stumble like she died then instantly came back to life. I have had that a couple times and she throws a check engine light I look and the engine looks fine but I hook up the scanner and it says NO codes but the light is on?
I am stumped may try a CPS I am still on the original. I thought it was crazy maybe something I had done to the truck but spoke to a neighbor of mine and his truck does the same thing its stock
Also but maybe unrelated in the winter when I first start the truck and its cold out my chip doesnt work at all. If I let the truck run for a few minutes then shut it off and restart it the chip works fine. I called the dealer I got it from and was told to remove it and clean the terminals and reinstal but that didnt help I have no idea
I am at a lotal loss any help would be great sorry for the rant
Mine does this, but it only dies if I am idleing. If I am actually moving it usually just hickups and keeps going. Mine is starting to do it more frequently. I would like to know if your new CPS fixes it. I didnt want to do it because of the problems others have had after doing the recall.
As far as pulling the codes I just stopped by my local advanced I know its not the best but didnt want to drive all the way home if it was a major problem.
I drove it last night for a while and it didnt mess up at all seemed to run all around better but the problem was random so I will NOT say it fixed anything
The chip is a Diesel Site I have had it for a while and it does not work when cold on first start up in the winter 2 years now in any position and I keep cleaning the terminals though they never look corroded or dirty at all
Any other ideas I guess I will drive it whenever possible and see if it acts up and go from there
Yep the new CPS is in and running good dare I say better than before
As far as the scanner I have no idea it was a OBD2 scanner they hooked up maybe it cant read our trucks thats why it came back with nothing next time if it throws a code I will have to not be so lazy and take it to the shop I guess
JT250, are you getting a check engine light when it stumbles or dies?
Hey man I used to live in Temple for 5 years during high school. Graduated in '99.
And yes I do get a check engine light sometimes. Usually only if it hickups or dies a couple times in a row. But when I cycle the key it goes away. I havent been around my mechanic w the good code reader when it happens though.
Now if I go to Autozone and ask for a CPS will they know what it is or do I have to call it something else. Also will the one they sell be the same and the Ford recall replacement?? I heard bad things about those.
