I am wanting to install a switch that would allow me to leave my rear hatch glass open with-out the lights coming on. Does any-one know where the switch is that turns the lights open the rear glass is opened?
Did you try rolling the panel dim control all the way down until it clicks into the "off" position? Not sure if your 2000 has that, my 03 and 4 do, and I can't remember if my 99 did.

All switches for interior lighting are built into the latches for the rear glass, hatch, and 4 doors.
The one thing you want to be careful about when bypassing the switch for the rear glass is the rear wiper. There is a safety feature that disables the rear wiper from working if the rear glass is open...for obvious reasons.
