I have the "clunk"

from what I have seen here the "clunk" from underneath the truck is the sway bar bushings, is this what I need to cure it?

http://www.energysuspensionparts.com...sp?prod=4.5186

Also does it come with new bolts? or are they special or can I just get some normal ones or reuse the old ones?

Thanks,
Mike

My cluck was cured with just the sway bar bushings. I did not do the end links. Energy has a part number that is just the bushings and does not include the end links. I have heard that it can be VERY hard to get the end links out and back in, so I choose wait on those, and it turned out I did not need them.

Looking at this kit that you linked though, it looks like the end links are two rubber pieces, so that should be easy to get into the links.

My end links are very worn so I figured I would replace them too while I was at it

The noise bothers me too, so are you reusing the old bolts then?

Funny this topic should be brought up. Just after Thanksgiving last year I put a set of the energy bushings on and I noticed today that one had mysteriously disappeared...washer, bolt, nut, everything! Called energy directly and they said they will send me one free of charge but now I just have to find a new washer and nut and bolt.

I dont know if it sheared off or what, but I used loctite on the nut...

It did cure my clunk tho...

I put those in this weekend. Helped the clunk for sure, my friend had a hydraulic press I borrowed to take them out. They were in there really tight I don't think I could have gotten them out without the press. They go on super easy.

Also the frame bushings seemed to small but I put the C clamp over the and hit with a rubber mallet and they went on fine. On my excursion the drop links were a little different on each side so pay attention to that.

The links are easy to take off and put back on. Don't need to jack the truck up, just unbolt them and they will come off. I changed my link ends last year.

Yeah the links are easy, I meant taking the bushings out of the links and replacing them with the Energy ones. I guess you just bought the new links with bushings already in them? That would be easy, I just have access to a machine shop so I pressed them out and put in some red ones from Energy.

I know what you meant, and the bushings are a PITA to get out. I did buy the whole links for my truck. I still have the old links and I will change the bushings out when I feel like it, and have a spare set ready to go.

At the risk of getting flamed I will tell you that I took my sway bar completely off. After changing the bushing twice a year for the last two years I just decided to run without. I can tell you after 3 weeks of not having the sway bar on my truck, I don't notice it driving any different that when it was in, just no clunk when driving and that makes me happy.

This is on my to-do list for sure. Now, I just need the time to do it.

lol, Eric, I don't think anyone will be flamming you for this. . Lots of our trucks didn't come with swaybars. My original links lasted for 100,000 miles before I started feeling the thumps. I put new end links and hope for another 100,000 miles.

Thanks, I remember once, quite a while ago, that some one suggested taking the sway bar off and they were given a fair amount of guff over it. Any way, I haven't suffered any ill effects from removing it. And where I live there is rarely a straight road, so most of my driving is cornering and braking, and it handles well.
