head gaskets??

heres my problem, i have a 1986 6.9 diesel with 168,000 miles, i was driving it home from work and it started to miss really bad, and would barely stay running. it didn't overheat either, ran normal about 1/2 on the gauge and it was 86 degees here today. i poped the hood and on the drivers side head, in the hole where the glow plug is was half way filled with fresh coolant? i dried it all up with a rag, let it cool for awhile and restared it to see if it would fill up again and it didn't but it begain to run real rough again with a little white smoke when you rev it up.
there is a new gas filter and i cracked all the injector lines to see if it would changed the engine idle, all of them did but one, the 2nd injector back on the drivers side was dead and did nothing.
Sound to me like a head gasket? are these a pain to do, i did tons og gas engine head gaskets on older and newer vehicles buit never a diesl engine.
I have new injectors and a fuel line return kit. i was going to put in it this weekend but it also looks like i'm going to be putting in a head gasket as well, should i just put in a new injector pump while i'm at it as well? <!-- / message --><!-- BEGIN TEMPLATE: ad_showthread_firstpost_sig --><!-- END TEMPLATE: ad_showthread_firstpost_sig -->

Ideally you would change the pump and injectors at the same time.
Sometimes when you install new injectors raising the pop pressure the pump fails pretty quick because of the extra pressure.

The only thing harder about the headgaskets compared to a gasser is the weight.

gaskets

well i started tearing her down today and found out it was the intake gasket that was leaking coolant into that little creavice i was talking about and flooding in the front 2 cyliders on the drivers side, i already bought a head set so i guess i'm just going to finish tearing it down and replace the headgaskets, injectors and injector pump since i'm this far.
it should be good for another 300,000!! lol hopefully.
