3G 130A alternator
I won't get into the specifics because there are a multitude of writeups on the subject, but anyone needing to replace their alternators really should spend a few extra dollars and purchase the big case (130A) 3G alternator.
I just replaced my original alternator (95A), that had 200,000 miles on it,with one this weekend and couldn't be happier
. Easy bolt in, same belt and quiet operation.
It puts out more current at idle than the stock alternator does maxed out at cruising speed.
For some reason the 130 amp alternator appears to actually put out 170 amps max.
Perfect for you guys with high powered stereo's or those with lots of lights, winch or snow plows.
Next, I'm going to upgrade the charge cable to the #2 wire setup available here.
