1961 vs 1963 223 engine

One other thing.
On another forum there was much talk about the headers from Patriot, same ones sold by Summit and Sacto Vintage Ford, not fitting on the later 223's. IIRC, it was the rear of the engine where it bolts up to the bellhousing being in the way of the header collectors. Kind of a tough thing to work around. A guy bought a set but they didn't fit his truck.
Even in the Sacto catalog it states they fit "53-56 223". I called them up to ask if they would fit all years of 223's since the engine structure didn't change at the bellhousing area as far as I knew. The phone monkey told me "if the catalog says they only fit '53 to '56, then thta's all they fit". Apparently they don't fit 53-56, either. Needless to say they did not get any of my money. Bummer as they are full length, and way cheaper than Clifford's shorty's.
I haven't personally tried these on my '63 truck, so this is all 3rd party on my part, but the evidence was enough to steer me away from buying a set and having to: a) cut them up that much to make them fit, or b) paying return shipping on something that big and bulky. Maybe someone has had better luck?
