Power mod suggestions

Hello all. I just traded in my '01 supercrew for a 2008 supercrew. It has the 5.4 and i was just wondering what you would suggest for mods. I am thinking about buying a tuner/programmer and want to know which one is the best. Also, has anyone tried a throttle body spacer and, if so, did it make any difference? I tried a cold air intake on my '01 (4.6) and I found I lost low end power (couldn't do a brake stand any more) but gained a little bit in the top. I am not looking at this, this time as all I feel it did was add a nice sound but would rather spend that kind of money on somethig that will work. Thanks. Will try to post some picks when i figure it out.

Throttle Body Spacer = Complete and utter waste of money...better off as a paper weight

Tuner - General consensus is the Edge Evolution...followed very closely by the Gryphon (custom version of Edge)

I highly suggest you get a good exhaust/muffler installed. I personally love Magnaflow. It's amazing how much a decent exhaust can make you instantly happier with a truck
I just bought a 2008 Expedition and next week when I get paid, I am installing a Magnaflow muffler to replace the OEM monstrosity

keeping all the OEM piping though. I want a bit more noise, but it needs to stay reasonable since it's a family car

I got a SCT X3 programmer with custom tunes from Mike from 5startuning.com He is a member here. His customer service is great. I emailed him a problem I had and he emailed me right back. Heck I even had a question for him on a sunday and he got right back. He is a great person selling a great product. I have the 87 economy, 91 performance, and 91 tow tunes. The 91 performance makes the truck real jumpy. Just barely hit the gas and it makes you shoot back in your seat. I would give him a try.

I just booked an appointment to have a magnafow installed Wednesday! Would like some more info on tuners. Read one this morning about a guy having trouble and thinks it might be his tuner. What kind of issues are people having with tuners? I want the extra power, especially towing, but don't want to cause damage to my engine. Thanks.

I havent had a problem with mine. Go to 5 Star Tuning | Custom Dynomemeter Chassis Tuning Products and Services and you can read some info there. You can also email Mike from there I do believe. He can answer any question you may have.
