A/C help

Hey everyone. I havent been on in a while......finally nice weather here in Michigan, so we have been doing a little camping and yard work.

Anyways, I went to turn my AC on Saturday and it was not working. I check fuses, and all looked ok. There is a relay for AC and was wondering if that could be the problem. Is there any way to check those?? There is also a AC clutch diode in the power distribution box where the relay is. What the heck is that???

Then I had a can of 134a refridgerant and tried to recharge with it. Didnt take any so I dont thing it is low on refriderant.

My compresser wont kick on. I am hoping that it is not a bad compresser. I have never had any problem with my AC.....never had to recharge it either.

Any ideas on what to check?? Should I check into a new relay??

Thanks in advance!!!

Try bypassing the low pressure cut off switch, this will keep the clutch from engaging if the suction pressure goes below switch setting.

hello from sunny battle creek. well today anyway. some people, including myself, have had issues with the blend door. I have symptoms when I switch from the Heator to the A/C and back. It changes, but sometimes takes a few trips. There was a good post on here a while back, I'll see if I can find it for you.

We were at Fort Custer State park over the weekend. That is when I noticed the AC was not working. I am from Portage.
Anyways, I am getting air out the vents, but the compresser is not kicking in. Will this do it if the blend door is acting up?

The blend door will not stop the compressor from running and the pressure switch is located under the hood on the pass. side back by the firewall on the accumulator here is a pic on my 05 not sure if yours is the same

So pull the plug off the switch and get a paper clip or small wire to connect the two pins on the plug with truck off and make sure clip or wire does not touch ground and start truck and see if compressor runs.

If the compressor runs with the switch bypassed it means the switch is bad or the system is low on charge(refrigerant)

Yes the accumulator is the long round tank looking thing and the switch screws into the side. DON'T REMOVE THE SWITCH FROM THE TANK WITHOUT REMOVING THE REFRIGERANT.

HAHA!! THANKS SO MUCH!! My compresser came on! It didnt get cold, so I think my switch is good, so I must be low on refrigerant! I will try again to see if it will take ant refrigerant.

Also means that you have a leak in the system but if you never had to add to it could mean it's a small leak. If you have to keep adding refrigerant you should locate the leak and repair.
