Today I cut off my muffler, installed a 26 in cherry bomb glasspack, installed a k&n filter, and a new serpentine belt. I'm really quite impressed with how the truck sounds, and can't wait to put a 4 in long tip on it. took 4 trips to autozone, due to continually getting the wrong parts, and spent most of the day under the truck. At idle it sounds like a 6cyl, but when you put it in drive and the rpms drop, you would think it was an 8 cyl. At 146,000 miles, she purrs like a new truck. the only thing that has been replaced in the trucks life has been the alternator, hopefully the new upgrades won't affect the pickup to much. Has anyone else run a 26 in cherry bomb???? If so what do you think of the sound? I think it is nice deep and loud
i usedto have a 99f150 with the 4.6 in it..i put a single 2.5in glass pack on it,and it didnt sound very good.so i put dual glass packs on it and it sounded very good..also glass packs getlouder over time ,because the packing burns out..so give it tiime before you change it..
I think you will start to get unhappy with it on a long trip. I've had a loud truck before (still have it, just don't drive it right now), and found that long trips and loud exhaust do not mix. Drives you nuts and gives you a headache.
