i asked in the 4x4 forum, but no replies. i have 2 t cases, both divorced. they are made by dana, and are model 24. i was told they are from an early bronco(66-77) but i researched ,and found that all early broncos are fitted from the factory with dana 20 t cases. i want to find out what the dana 24 is out of. i was curious on how reliable and tough this t case is.
24's came in F100's and F250's. I still have a 62 and a 65 that both have a 24. Yes, they are very reliable. I never had any problem with them and these trucks were used and abused. I would be interested in knowing how the 24 and the 205 gear ratios compare, if anyone happens to know.

This was my reply in the off road forum, and it addresses the ratio issue. The NP has a slight advantage, with a 1.98:1
suprised nobody has jumped on this.
Here you go.
Dana 24:
'Divorced' part-time 2-speed (hi-lo), used on '59-'72 F250-F350s 4x4s and were also pretty common in the '59-'66 F100s. They were also used in 6-cylinder '73-'75 F100/F150 trucks. Cast iron, gear drive, 1.86:1 low ratio. It's a tough case but lacks a low range, and parts are getting hard to find for this.
NP205 is a better candidate, but the Dana is pretty tough.
thanks guys, i have never seen one of these in a truck before. im building a trail buggy from an old bronco frame.3/4 ton axles dana 44 front dana 60 rear 4.88 gears both will be spooled. trans will be a np 435, engine a mild 302. tires are 36 inch. truck will weigh around 3500-4000 lbs. im hoping this t case will hold up to some mild trail use.
