E4OD Questions
I have a 1991 F350/2WD/460/E4OD.
The transmission has been a problem since I bought the truck used. It upshifts and instantly locks up the convertor, It sometimes overheats and throws fluid on the ground out of the bellhousing when put in reverse. Sometimes it upshifts from 3rd to 4th but changes its mind and goes back to third.
I just bought a 1990 F250/2WD/460/E4OD with low miles. I drove it and everything works fine. I have removed the transmission and am going to install it in my 1991.
Can I assume all the trouble is INSIDE the 91 transmission or should I be looking at anything OUTSIDE the transmission before installation of the replacement?
Also: I remember reading here about an external filter in line of the cooler to trap more particals? Does anybody know more about that? Some filters can be very restrictive and couse more problems.
Any fluid recommendations?
Shift kit recommendations?

It sounds like you have a bad MLPS on the side of the transmission.
