Radius Arm Bushings Wrong

I bought a radius arm bushing kit from Dennis Carpenter (can be seen on pg. 15 of catalogue). I purchased the ones listed as appropriate for a 1965 F100 (part C5TZ-3B203 B and C), but when I pulled off the old bushings and opened the box, I found the parts were not the same. I looked at the parts in the catalogue again to be sure they sent what I ordered, and yes, I had the parts pictured for my truck. Right next to these parts is a picture of the radius arm bushings for a F350...and they look like the right ones for my truck (part C7TZ-3B203 A). Anyone have any idea what's up with that?? Either Carpenter made a mistake in the catalogue or something is screwy with my truck.

As original:

C5TZ3B203B .. Outer Radius Arm Bushing ~ 1 13/16" long.

C5TZ3B203C .. Inner Radius Arm Bushing ~ 2 3/8" long.

Fits: 1965/75 F100/250 2WD / 1971/75 F350.
--------------------------------------------
C7TZ3B203A .. Inner/Outer Radius Arm Bushing ~ 1 3/4" long.

Fits: 1967/70 F350.
-------------------
Because these bushings crack and swell with age, they will not resemble what they looked like when new.

ARE the radius arms on your truck the originals...or not?

If the radius arms are from a 1976/79, the C5TZ bushings are in-correct.

D5TZ3B203A .. Rear Radius Arm Bushing

D5TZ3B203B .. Front Radius Arm Bushing

Fits: 1976/79 F100/350.

Bill,

Thanks for the help. I puilled off the rear (outer?) bushing and it looked nothing like the new one. The old one had a short nipple that was inserted into radius arm holder/bracket, while the new one has no nipple at all. The new inner bushing has a nipple, but it is much too long to work in the rear. I posted a picture of my radius arm in my album (https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/a...p?albumid=1424) and will try to post one here...but I've never been able to post a pic in a thread...I don't know why.

Maybe you will be able to tell, from the picture, if that is the original radius arm for a 1965 2WD F100, or if it is a replacement. I just bought the truck about a month ago, so I'm not sure. I was told everything is original, but that doesn't mean much (I was also told it only has 42K original miles...I find that hard to believe, but it runs great!).

Michael

ps. nope, still don't know how to post a pic in the thread

Bill, these are pic's of the radius arms on my 65 F100. The P/N on both are C5TA 3A360-A. It was several years ago that I upgraded to front disc brakes and purchased the items needed from Pic N Pull, the receipt list the spindles, I beams, tie rods, and pitman arm, but nothing about the radius arms so almost certain I used the originals.

EUREKA!

A couple of come-alongs and a sturdy tree and the radius arm bushing job is finished. First, I assumed Bill was right (not difficult) and that my truck has an original front end...tha leads to the logical conclusion that someone put the wrong bushings on the radius arms last time around. Both the inner and outer bushings had a nipple when I pulled the old ones off; the outer is supposed to have a sleeve. I used the new ones and it all went together with no problems.

Last weekend power steering, this weekend the bushings...I'm just going to drive her for awhile now!

Sorry Michael, don't know how I renamed you Bill. Anyhow, IMHO, the power steering was at the top of my list and probably the most noticable upgrade of them all. So, appears you and the truck are ready to roll.
