Found a Black CPS
I found a black CPS at a local IH dealer. 
It ain't cheap but from what I gather it would be better.
My question is...with all the part #s for these things, will just any black CPS work on my '01? Inquiring minds want to know.

The part # that I have found is ....1825899C93. The number you have was listed by IH, but not available to me. They did not cough up weather it was compatible. At $130 CAN, for dead stock, I think they just want to move it. Not enough to give a price break though.
At that price I think I would like to know more before I dive in. Thanks for the info, maybe someone else has that part #.
