Cavitation can still get threw the walls of a 6.9 its just not as common as with a 7.3. ford never recomended it in the 6.9 because they wouldn't cavitate threw within the waranty period then once they relised it was possible with the 7.3 they recomended it so if it happend in the warranty period and the SCAs werent good they could blame it on lack of maintnace. Not tryn to be a jerk Joe just never had a chance to use that smilley.
yup a whole $3. Nothing wrong mechanically as far as i can tell. Body is in rough shape, but nothing i dont think can be fixed, or at least made to look better lol.
Im not sure, but i might be an F250 HD. It rides rougher than hell. Itll haul 2 tons easy and has no overload springs.
OK, thsi thing loses about a quart(?) or maybe it was a gallon of coolant a month. For the life of me I cant figure out where its going! I dont see any leaks. The guy i bought it from said its been like that since he bought it abotu 7 years ago. I do get some white smoke at start up.
The trucks got a 6.9 right? well If you have no external leaks the first thing I would do is have an oil sample taken at your local speedco and see if you are getting any glycol in the oil if so and if there is absolutly no sign of oil in the coolant, pull the cap and look at the sides of the rad next time you have to add coolant. I would pop the heads off and see if you have any coolant trails in the gaskets. if you are getting oil in the coolant I would re oring the cooler first and if that doesn't fix it i would again pull the heads. Actualy befor the heads i would pull the intake *** the valley pan gasket seals off opennnings in the coolant ports that are there from the casting presses.
oops your the one with the 7.3 well how may miles are on it?
all i said befor still aplys except maybe the intake I cant remeber if the 7.3 still had the casting holes I'll go look at my cavitated 7.3 in the bed of my truck and see.
Ok just looked the 7.3 has a core pug sealing the casting ports so that probly isn't the problem unless the plug and the vally pan gasket are leaking. Also check the heads closely for cracks its common for them to crack between the valves and leak coolant or so i have been told.
About the truck ridding rough what comfiguration is it cab and bed wise? Mines looog so I don't feel ill effedts from the rear suspention since its almost 10 feet behind me give or take acuple feet.
