Dick,

I plug welded the stake pockets and the front bed panel onto the bedsides. I could have borrowed a spot welder from a fellot FTE member but I got in a rush and drilled a bunch of holes and welded everything together (Now I have to figure out how I'm going to get any kind of grinder in there between the fenders and the stake pockets to grind the welds smooth....ugh)

Thanks for the kind words
Bobby

Thanks - I know what you mean. I'll have an easier time of it cause my fenders ore off for patch panel repair. By the way, I liked the idea of welding in some spacers in the rear cross member to help keep it from bowing as well as welding in some backing plates for hinge attachment. I hate being a copycat but I'm doing the same. Can't tell you how helpful those pictures were to my project.
Incidentally although I saw the photo of the jig you used for straightening the bed side top roll I'm not sure I understand how you used it. I need to do something similar. My tailgate has a slight bow in it also but I think I can handle that by cutting some relief slits in the top roll, heating it up and bending it back and then welding the slits back up. Any suggestions? Thanks - Dick

Dick,

If I had to try and straighten the top roll again I would do it a bit differently. I did manage to straighten the gradual bend but I created some small dents in the process...I'll deal with that at a later date.

My tailgate was so hosed that I made my own;

I might have screwed up by using rigid conduit for the upper and lower roll but its what I had laying around ( I hope the galvinization doesn't screw with me later during painting)

Things get pretty tight down towards the bottom of the stake pockets. I'll figure something out......I'm along way from really having to worry about it
