is there 3 or 4 bolts holding on the pedastal 2 the block? if there is a 4th one on the drivers side how the hell do you guys get it out?
thanks for any help. thats my last bolt to take out and then i can get her atta there.
thanks again
Mitch
There are 4. I just took mine off to replace the O rings. Yes it is a major pain to get to.
It is on the drivers side and I used a socket with a universal type extension along with a regular extension. If you feel ont he back side of the turbo before the Y collector you can feel the indintation.
mitch, just like ak said, youll need a 1/4 drive 10mm swivel socket with a 6" extension. thats whats easiest for me. the last 2 turbos ive pulled, i couldnt find my socket set, so a 10mm stubby gear wrench rachet wrench got me by. i reached back with my right hand up against the firewall and got the wrench on the head of the bolt. and pulled with my fingertips and got lucky both times. good luck brother
got her with a 10 MM ratchet wrench but the bad news is the 0-rings are fine haha so i did all that BS work for nothing........... is there any other problomatic leaks i should look for while i have the turbo off?
thanks guys
Mitch
Pull the guts, tap the hole, blow out with copius amounts of carb cleaner and compressed air. Install big cap with oring and snap ring, plug newly tapped hole, reinstall and forget. LOL
Make sure the ebpv rod has about 1/4" of pull before it hooks to the ball socket connection! I rebuilt mine and it turned out i spent money and didnt need to. Just screw that rod a little tighter and make sure it has about 1/4" of pull before you connect it back
Yes, the exhaust back pressure valve rod. Rebuild it or gut it.
yes, mine has been leaking for quite some time now, and i need to get to fixin it. when i bought the rod wa not hooked up cuz it has a bd exhaust brake. never used the brake, i dont know what it needs to work
well i got the valve taken out and the hole tapped and sealed, since i had the turbo out i went ahead and replaced my rubber fuel lines. they were about to go any minute and half the hose clamps were not even tight. also checked my FPR screen, MAN o MAN i dont know how any fuel was getting through that sucker she was black and plugged.
also what kind of pressure are those rubber lines under?
back to see if i can get the turbo put back on.
thanks for all your help guys
