Thats a yes and no, you can currently get a Cummins in the F550 +'s, but Ford has spent a good bit of money on their 6.7 Scorpion, so I don't see it happening
I do think it would be really cool (I'm just dreamin here) if they would treat pickups like big rigs and let the motor be an option. It would be cool to have the option of getting a the 6.7 Scorpion, 6.4 (I don't think Navistar is going to throw their new baby away just yet), Cummins 6.7, maybe that Hino 8.0, or whatever oddball motor they can think of fitting under the hood.
If ford has the scorpion emissions ready there is no way they will offer a different motor.
Same reason Cat quit the big truck market. It just cost too much to change emission levels every time green decides to change emission levels.
Is the scorpion going to require urea.
I hope nothing happens to Dodge. My step-father works for an electronics repair company that has a contract with Chrysler to test, service, and repair ECM's, radios, gauge clusters, etc. If Chrysler goes under, his company loses the contract, and they close their doors, then he has no job.
My mom works for GM.
So you can imagine how nervous they have both been over the last 6 months about keeping their jobs.
I have a feelin this is going to further increase the value of any pre 6.0 (or whenever they make the cutoff for emissions). Its one nice thing about my 88 when I get ready to sell it after I fix her up this summer is that even tho she ain't a PSD, those two magic number of 7.3 makes people happy and dish out serious dough. I've wathced several several 7.3 IDI's go for 4-5K cuz of just the motor.
I saw obamo on the tele crying that a hedgefund or something was not willing to accept cents on the dollar to help save chrysler from there own mismanagement. Not sure I blame them, I'm certainly not impressed with what the government allowed to happen to my 401funds while the firms handling it go free.
Chrysler (ford, gm)going under is not going to affect me any worse then it already has. Might be a lot of chinese and mexicans losing jobs though.
Although what I came here looking for was suggestions for a good forum for the dodge sprinter. Seems my brother bought a used one and I know I'll be needing help working on that imported german diesel.

I thought sprinters used 4BT's? I think even if Chrysler bites the big one Dodge trucks could still end up being produced under Diamler Trucks i.e Freightliner. I've already seen a couple rebadged Cummins pickups around here with Sterling grills (Diamler announced the discontinuing of Sterling, more Freightliners and Western Stars are supposed to take up the slack). I don't think its a long shot for Dodge's truck line to carry on if Chrysler closes shop. Like it or not, lots of people prefer the CTD enough that someones bound to pick it up for a HD truck line, beit still in a Dodge or somethin else
