hows it goin have 66 f250 with 300 and 4 speed manual was recently checking tranny fluid and a lot of yellow milky fluid came out? always shifted fine and no grinding was wondering if this is a problem that can be solved with just a change of oil in it or what i have no idea this is going to be my main transportation for most of the summer b/c my car is messed up so any help would be appreciated. thanks.
Almost sounds as though the original lube has been in that 4spd all these years. Nothing to lose so change it with maybe some 80-90wt gear lube put in...
thanks for the advice gonna do it soon as i can.
actually i changed the fluid with i think 90wt like 4 years ago when i had it in auto shop so idk why it came out like that but wierder things have happened
ok ill try just what are runner boots? lol i know i put everything back the same my teacher showed me so idk how moisture got in there in the first place there was never any boot on the shifter so maybe thats why?

Oops, fat finger mistake, hit the n instead of the b, should be rubber boots, and runner is a correct spelled word so spell check didn't pick it up..
FWIW- maybe try draining a little again and putting it in a dish or can that you can put a lid on and seal. let it sit for a few days and then check to see if there is any water in it. there should not be any water in there at all. if there is no water in the settled fluid then it may be just the type of oil that you used and will be nothing to worry about. if there is water visible then you should try and figure out why and how it got in there. it would take an open hole to allow enough moisture to get in there that would turn it milky. Your transmission has a breather on top with a small cap on it. If that cap is missing water from the road will get into your transmission. A very little water mixed with 90 weight will cause it to foam up and turn cloudy.
I agree with most all. The breather a lot of times is missing and lets road water in. Also, if it is pluged it won't let the moisture out and will cause it to sweat inside the case. Both require further inspection and a change of the gear oil.
ok cool ill c this weekend (supposed to be 80 yay!) ill take the tunnel off and check the top of the tranny for that cap, drain and refill it. does it matter which brand or anything since its so old or just any brand just 90 wt? and when i fill it its just to the top of the check hole right? well anyways, thanks guys always appreciated.
