just curious if anyone has or knows of someone who has a decent short bed for sale. i have a 78 flareside, but as i spend more time on this website, the wife thinks she wants to scrap the flareside bed and get a regular bed , i really cant blame her, ialthough i was willing to fix the flareside wich is in pretty good shape, not perfect but not treible. but a regular shortbed looks great too.
Good luck finding a bed. Ive been looking for one for about 3 years. Found one for $75 at a junk yard but it needed alot of work and I didnt have time or tools to do it. Its gone. 2nd one I found I figured Id wait til fall to pull out of the brush and tree growing around it. When I went back the guy crushed it a week before. And a guy at the tire shop told me he just crushed one a month before I talked to him. Timing is everything I guess. There are a few sites that have southern beds but your gonna pay some bucks for them. Im tempted to just get a long bed and cut it done.
yea thats the kind of answer i was expecting,,,,not what i was hopeing ....to be honest id pay a desent amount for one that could be re-worked,,,,but i bet for one thats in good shape would go for a grand or so ,,,not sure .....just pokein around to get a feel ya know.
guy in minnesota has 3 or 4 nice shortboxes. from arizona/texas. I think he gets between 700-1000 for them though. You could have a truck pick it up and ship it, but thats even more money! good luck!
yeah - you're just on the wrong side of the country
I know of 2 for sale over here. Not perfect, but probably better than most you'd find over there. 1 is only $100 or so if he still has it and the other is $400 if I remember correctly...

He still has good stuff, and they are free of any rust. Small dents, but nothing major.
Guy is stopping by the shop today though. Too bad the OP is so far away...
And - as soon as I get my short bed supercab the bed for that will be for sale. Or - I guess if that one is nicer than the one on the crew then the crew's bed will be for sale. Either way - the point is "you're on the wrong side of the country"
yea i know bein from the north east finding anything older than mabey 8 or 10 years thats in decent shape is hard....not impossible but hard. personally i wouldnt mind a drive south from me even to florida to pick up something that is decent of the rite price. in all reality florida is only a day away lol. i figure mabey someone out in south caralina or below the mason/dixon there has to be something on the east coast owrth investigating.midwest and all that im sure these trucks are in great shape.
Yeah - driving from state to state over there takes lees time than getting to the supermarket over here The states are so danged small over there
I've been thinking...
I hear the D60 fronts out of 78/79 trucks are semi easy to find and cheap over there. Rust free beds are that way over here. Anybody up for some trading? With the economy the way it is I know there have got to be some good rates on truck freight right now with people trying to stay busy.
How about swapping out some rust free beds for some D60's and splitting shipping? If anyone can come across 2-3 or even more D60 fronts from the 78/79 trucks I'm sure I could come up with quite a few rust free beds to baragain with...
well i got to be honest im not completely against the idea. ill take a look around and see what i can find and what there goin for, truck fraight isnt cheap but im sure with a little shopping around i could find a deal.
I've heard from members on here that they go for +/-$500 back there. They are double, to triple that here depending on where you find it.
Beds seem to be about the same scenario from out here to there. Meaning they are cheap here and expensive over there. If they are $700-$1k for a good one then I think we can definitely work something out.
Ive started looking for and 80's early 90's short bed I can take the fenders off of. Someone on here said they would work also. Those are hard to find too. Ive got good skins for mine. I just need the floor and inner fenders.
There was an 80's bed on my old 73 - so I know they can work. I'm not sure how similar the tail light areas are so skinning them might be a bit of work - but it should work.
