Dead Truck & P0605 Code
I pulled the IDM to do a 'slosh test' for water - nothing heard. IDM was then reinstalled.
I reinstalled the PCM, without the chip, leaving everything not strongly buttoned up. Did a short test drive and had no hiccups, so I re-secured everything. Twenty miles on, I haven't had one issue, even driving over roads which would have taken it down two weeks ago.
Over then next week I figure I'll run 500 to 800 miles. If everything works well I'll call it good.
The power loss without the chip is noticeable, but not really missed. I drive more for FE anyway. Maybe this'll but back a couple MPG.
Anyone want to buy a Superchips ECU for 1997 F-250 / E4OD? PCM and Chip numbers are in a previous post.
Rory
After ~1500 miles without a single dropout, it seems the problem was that the ECU chip installation was the problem. Not sure if the chip wnet bad or if the connection went intermittent, though I suspect the latter.
Thanks to all who helped with the diagnosis.
