I have a 2000 F-350 7.3 diesel crew cab. My ac cools fine. Should any cool air blow toward my feet? It never has, and that seems strange. The floor and my feet get extremely hot. The other day when I switched on the ac, I felt a small blast of cold air shoot down to my feet. It only lasted a second and then shut off. It got me to thinking how nice it would be, if it would continue. Is there anyone else with this problem, or is it a design flaw? Thanks.
AC flows through the dash vents and/or the defroster vents. I am not sure if the AC cycles when the selector is on floor, but floor/defrost should blow cold air at your feet. I believe the settings other than A/C and defrost are vent air and either bypass or flow through the heater core.
The floor/vent setting should be a/c also. Actually, the only control positions where the a/c pump doesn't run are OFF, FLOOR ONLY and VENT ONLY. At least in 2004 that's the way it was.
I do not mean "floor only". I mean when I turn the control **** to ac or max ac the cold air only blows out the dash vents. Is that the way it should operate, or should some cool air also be directed toward the floor?
That's what I was afraid I would find out! Not a very good setup. I hope they have modified this in later models. I never thought to check it before I bought. I will next time.
The Max A/C is recirc on dash vents only. The only times you will get cold air from the floor is the dash/floor setting and the defrost/floor setting. The floor only setting is without the A/C compressor running. Everybody but Ford has a pushbutton to start the compressor whenever you want. Sometimes you gotta take the bad (no A/C switch) with the good (you have a Ford)

I've never EVER seen a manual AC setup that blows cold air to the floor. EVER.
Not sure about the climate-control setup though, but I think those also never EVER send cold air to the floor.
However, I do think there is a vent under the steering wheel, isn't there?
