I have a 89 F150 4x4 ext. cab longbed.I was hauling some wood and sfter I unloaded and went to drive off the passanger rear wheel was wobbling.I removed the wheel and checked the axle, nothing seems out of place.I am clueless when it comes to most stuff behind the engine.Any suggestion?
Thanks
I guess one thing to check would have been the lug nuts, how tight they are, then the studs to see if they were loose at all, did you notice any of that?
Look around your suspension too, get a par and pry around a little bit.
the wheel bearing could crush... but you would notice a horrible noise most likely with the wobble... i doubt the wood would have done it though. I've hauled a yard and a half of wet sand in my 95 f150 and i didn't have any problems with bearings or anything else... If the wheel bearing was crushed it would be locked onto the shaft and spinning with it, would probably cause a bunch of heat as well... guess it can't hurt to check it out.
If you switched the wheel & it is still wobbling & you know its not the lug nuts ?? sounds like an axle problem..Are they the stock wheels ?? What kind of lug nuts conical or shank...What kind of rear end ??? Lew
Yeah they are the stock wheels, and its the acorn type lugs.As far as the rear end Im not sure.I know its the stock axle for the truck, but the guy I bought it from changed the gearing to pull a goose neck.
