I sold my 94 F-350 to a guy and he seems to be havingh nothing but problems with it.
Heres his latest email to me.
What do you think , it doesnt sound right to me?
"the main low pressure oil pump broke and a piece clogged the HPOP IPR (injector pressure regulator) and no oil could get thru to fire the injectors. ended up being $900 in parts and 14 hrs @ $80/hr in labor for diagnosis and instalation of new parts. so its running again."
Im calling BS on this one. Heres why.
LPOP broke: Its 1lb of steel always rotating in oil.
Piece of LPOP clogged IPR: The piece would have to go through the oil filter, unless it went through the short circuit bypass to the hpop but then the hpop has a screen on its intake hole, then if it made it through all that then it would have to be small enough not the jam the pistons of the hpop before going to the IPR.
No hes not wanting me to pay .....at least not yet.
Im trying to help him out I think someones taking him for a ride.
He lives 300 miles away.
He emails me with a diffrent problem every few days.
We drove the truck 150 miles to meet him to make the deal and it drove and ran fine.
He took it to his mechanic when he got home and they told him it needed $2700 worth of front end work.
I didnt believe that but whatever things happen.............
Next thing he emails his shop said the batteries were no good (1 1/2 year old interstates I had bought) I didnt believe that but whatever things happen ..................
Next he tells me it needed a new transfer case.......................
There were a few other minor things in there also, one good one was the driveshaft was to short ?
Then this oil pump deal is the most recent complaint.
So I emailed the guy pointing out the things you told me here.
Heres his answer.
"the 14 hours also included other work like redoing all the battery cables, lube oil and filter and all other fluids, and a bunch of other stuff it needed. and they noted the hpop had no screen. they are more of friends to me then mechanics so they wouldnt !*^! me around ive known then for years and used to work for him. and i obviously didnt pay retail which is the price i told you."
if he drove it 150 miles with no probs....then takes it to a "friend"...thats his prob...I'd just ignore him...sounds like "they" want to jack ya...just my .02
Thats unreal, I had the same problem when I sold my 93 1 ton non power stroke. I drove that truck everywhere and it ran great. Put tons of money in her and she was solid. The guy who bought her the next day started calling with all these unreal problems. I have never had this with anything I had sold. Told me it was only running on 7 cylinders and the valvetrain was bad......I knew way better and he finally went away. Sometimes I miss that truck it was so simple....as long as you never wanted to go over 65 mph or pass anyone

What! $80 per hour is not retail. I hope you are very careful with anything
you have written to them so far.......you should ignore all further communications with this scammer.
I hate to say it but we all know the rule. You buy it used you buy it as is. I bought my truck on ebay for 5k in Latrobe, Pa it was a city truck with a lift gate and only 87,000 miles but looked like puke vomit. Guy listed as looking rough but mechanically perfect and could drive across country no problem. I got there the truck had not been moved in over a year and had not really been driven in two years. He was so pissed that I was the only one who bid on it and got if for the 5,000. Anywho 60 miles into the down pour rain trip back home all tail lights went out which then smoked the tranny. Hey, as is and I didn't complain much and I would do it all over again!!!I'm sure the ex girlfriend wouldn't! I have put over $4,000 in it since and no end in sight and with diesel values around here being in the gutter I'd be lucky to get 5 out of it............if it was for sale...it ain't!

Im the same way ,I take it as it comes.
If it breaks just fix it and move on.
If you want warranty and someone to gripe at you should buy at a dealer.
