Climate Control 2008 F150
Climate Control 2008 F150
The climate control in my 2008 F150 does not control temperature very well. If set temperature is reached on AC it starts blowing hot air. On the heater side it keeps blowinh hot air at a slower rate. Any ideas or adjustments that can be made?
F150 XTR 4x4 5.4l
Does anyone have a link to the TSB on this, if there is one?
I have a manual climate control that is constantly puking hot air into the cab.
Even when the dial is halfway between the upper and lower portions of the blue zone, it'll be an even temp, then suddenly it belches air so hot you can't put your hand in front of it very long.
When I mentioned it to the dealer yesterday, he said there was no TSB, and that you had to get the position of the dial just right.
Seems like a lot of hot air to me....
This is about the third or fourth item that I have brought to the dealers attention, and every time I get brushed off (driver side mirror rattles - "normal ..not much you can do with it"....engine ticks loudly - again, "normal for that engine" (5.4L)....
They usually call about the quality of service after the fact, and I need some ammo this time, so any help on the climate control would be greatly appreciated.

The dealer may ignore it because the TSB header states EATC and the body states EATC EMTC... here is the first paragraph..
ISSUE:
Some 2005-2008 F-150 and 2006-2008 Mark LT vehicles equipped with Electronic Automatic Temperature Control (EATC) may exhibit intermittent periods of warm air output in Auto mode with the temperature control set between 68-72 degrees Fahrenheit (18-22 degrees Celsius). Some 2005-2008 F-150 vehicles equipped with Electronic Manual Temperature Control (EMTC) may exhibit periods where the cabin temperature cannot be maintained with the control ****. Some customers may also complain the heat cannot be reduced without rotating the control **** well into the Cool/Blue range.
The resolve is to replace the blend door actuator with an updated part number. Ive done about 200 of these myself and am shocked they still dont know about it.
Part number 9L3Z-19E616-E Actuator - Motor Asy
It doesnt state 2004 but they use the same component and that component updates to the same part number. Im sure that was just a typo or intentionally done to prevent HERITAGE models from getting this component replaced unnecessarily.

Thanks HomerW....greatly appreciated.
I had to replace the entire plenum assmebly on my 1997 EB Explorer because of a blender door issue...It wasn't until I came on these boards that I found out you can repair the thing via the glove box....costly lesson at the time.

I just noticed you are from Ontario, so that might explain why they havent seen much of this. Here in SW Oklahoma we see 105 degrees and higher regularly, so folks notice when thier AC doesnt blow cool like it should. We dont use heaters that much here.
Hmmmm, this may explain the changing AC in the summer.....
We sure could use some of your weather here now.
The mercury is getting closer to 32 deg every day.
No snow yet, but it's gonna be here soon.

May be your mode door actuator. Ive seen that model year have problems with the foam seal on the doors coming off too and jamming the door, requiring removal of the dash and plenum to replace the upper duct assembly. You can tell if that is the issue by removing the mode door actuator and manually moving the door to see if it moves through the full range. If its not bound up I would just replace the mode door actuator. Its mounted on the driver side of the plenum.
