I been talking with a couple of guys from the Draggins. They were asking what seemed to be the attraction this year. I told them about the old STC bus. It was busy with everyone going in and out. Kids loved it to be able to sit in the drivers seat.
So I suggested they should have for the 50th year a section for our First responders and service vehicles.
These would be an old police car restored which they figure they can talk to the RCMP in Regina. Firetruck and they can talk to Saskatoon fire dept. I think they have an old truck restored. Ambulance I know a where a collector is here. He has a few in the city here. I also suggested a old tow truck. What came to my mind was the member here Sstan He has that 53-56 Tow truck. It would look great with an old classic on the winch.
They came up with an milk truck, and they thought about old bicycles and motorcycles. They thought the idea would a good one if they can find several of these things from 1960 which is 50 year ago.
They said they will tlak to the club about it.
I told them it drwaws old an young. The young see how the old equipment vehicles look like compared to todays work trucks and cars.
The older people will remember riding in the old milk trucks or police cruisers back seat. HeH Heh. Umphhem. That my young days.
So what do you guys think.
I wonder if Sstans would be willing to have his old tow truck in the show.?
Some great ideas there Glen, especially the antique tow truck plus a black and white police car. This year there was a retired 5.0 Mustang, an X RCMP car on display.
There`s lots of neat old vehicle displays, tractors including a Model T tractor conversion and a Bennett buggy during Pionera Days at the Western Development Museum.
Yeah thats true, any neat addition to a car show is always nice to see, regardless of age.
Ive been thinking really hard about getting a pre 30's model a, or t from my uncles estate and restoring back to original, I always like checking the originals out at car shows as well as the modified ones.
Yeah Glen thats what I think Im gonna do. My mom (shes in charge of the estate now) wants to have an auction to auction a bunch of it off, but I know some of it wont sell for much, so I have it planned to take a bunch of pictures of everything, advertise it, and sell it to someone whos actually gonna do something with some of that stuff, and not sell anything to a crusher!
Yeah that would be a good idea. An auction will get a lot of those scrap metal guys giving the estate peanuts.
If you still have those pics email them to me. I like to see them again and future ones. It would be nice to save some of that old tire iron.
Ya know what Ill do Glen, is next time I am out there, I will bring my camera, and take pictures of everything, tractors, cars, trucks, snowmobiles, you name it.
I will then put them on my website and post the link.
Anyone from here that might be interested in something can let me know and Ill see what I can do about it.
Yeah no problem. I would way rather see his stuff go to people that would do something with it, and Im sure he would too. He never liked to get rid of stuff if it wasnt going to good use, and Im gonna try my best to keep that going for him.
Lots of pre 1935 cars. Lots of tractors, and other misc equipment. Some "newer" vehicles up to about 1960 or so. Not super hot rod stuff, or muscle cars (there is a 71 dodge charger but its trashed)
My uncle was into fords and he has quite a few from various years, mainly trucks. 1920ish dodge brothers car. A few complete redone frames for model A's or T's with redone engines. Some old snowmobiles.
Alot of different stuff. Alot of "junk" but alot of good stuff that could be used, restored, or hot rodded if a guy was into that look.
He has a couple of flatheads out there that he once told me were in mint shape. Im not exactly sure where they are, or what they are in, but Im gonna make sure I grab them.
Trashed 71 Charger. To those guys it does not matter. They will give you a decent buck for than scrap metal. Take pics of it. Trashed they will still come for it. They can get just about everysheet metal panel for it and rebuild it these days. I wish they do that for my other vehicles too.
Yeah thats true glen, but when I mean its trashed, its trashed lol. I guess someone might want it, and your right, it might bring more then scrap metal.
