Do you have any junkyards in your area? I think two or three of us already told you to check the junkyards for a 1980 - 1983 Ford F150 to get the wire harness from.

? lol lemme update you the guy before me seems to not know what he was sgoing for. my carb choke isnt connected to the MCU or any other power so its jimmy rigged with a wire and stays open 24/7. its sucking gas like crazy and its loose on top of the intake. theres hoses that are on there i have no clue what they are for. so the reason i made the post was to see if anyone had these parts for dirt cheap. before the junkyard guy trys to rip me off.

Emartinez, biggest thing you have to have is the harness portions that plug into the duraspark box and distributor. You need a distributor for the duraspark system and the box. If you can splice wires you can get the harness connectors off anything that has a duraspark system, not just a pickup. I don't know about some people, but I am much more likely to stick with a good working factory system then go to aftermarket, even adapting a GM HEI system.

yeah, im hoping i cant find the harness. im not sure how many people here have gone through the trucks. back home most of the time the carbs were the ones gone. but then again ive never attempted to fix up a truck. im learning alot..
sometime next week im gonna take a ride out to some places and get that stuff out. i dont know how to splice but ill look it up and see the steps involved. ill try to find a list of cars trucks.. etc that used the duraspark ll is there any specific vehicle besides 80-83 Ford trucks that will have the parts i need to fit my truck?

Most Ford cars from 77-80 used it. Older models used Duraspark I and the pins are different. If the engine is still in, look for the large diameter, usually blue cap and 8mm wires.

I just looked on ebay and found a truck harness for $18 with no bids.
Item number: 220398715978

Auto zone for a new distributor.
Cardone New / Distributor Part Number: 84-2669 $71.99 out the door, no core charge with a new cap and rotor

Buy a DS2 module and plug it all together.

Dont try and make this to hard as it is really easy to do.

The hard part is removing all the old computer wiring harness.

Jim

Hey, JimsRebel is here! This is the man who helped me the most in wiring up my own Duraspark II conversion on my 1985 F150 about 6 months ago. Thank you, JimsRebel, for all your help. The DSII harness worked well for me and my truck purrs like a kitten.

This is what you need, Emartinez. Click the link below:

eBay Motors: DURASPARK wiring harness, module to distributor & coil (item 220398715978 end time Apr-25-09 14:16:35 PDT)

Emartinez, get the harness, the distributor, the ignition module, and the ignition coil and then we can tell you how to plug it all together. It really is easy on these trucks.

Emartinez, Don't forget to get a different non-feedback carb, otherwise it will still run like crap. The original feedback carb your truck should have now is computer controlled, you want the non-feedback carb, which is not computer controlled.

And as I said before, in the other thread, the Duraspark II wiring harness connector should already be on the truck now. Red and white wire, shaped like a "D" along the firewall and/or driver front fender area. (If the previous owner didn't cut it off)

When you get your DSII harness from e-pay, the wreckers, wherever, the harness will plug into this connector.

And I've stated what those hoses are for, and what they do.

I've already mentioned this at least three times before. And I will not do so again.

81-F-150-Explorer, thank you for all of your help in the past as well! I am the guy who kept aggrevating you about a wire problem I had with my truck about 6 months ago. I was doing things the hard way and trying to wire up the DS2 conversion on my truck by going by the diagrams shown in Chilton's. You helped me TREMENDOUSLY. I can't believe I already had most of the plugs on my truck to plug it in. Like you suggested, I found an original FORD DS2 wire harness for a 1980 - 1983 F150, pluuged it in, and my truck has run GREAT ever since!

Everything looks neat and factory, and best of all, FUNCTIONAL thanks to the both of you!
