Anyone have a thoughts on polyurathane vs factory rubber for a 4x4? Would polyurathane bushings improve the ride or make it more rough since the polyurathane is hadder than rubber? Also does polyurathane stand up better to heat? I'm looking for the pros and cons for keeping my factory rubber bushings or swap out for polyurathane.
It is suppose to, though I have never kept a vehicle longer then 20 years :-) to test the theory. It does hold up way better when exposed to oil though.
For suspension, I would probably go poly, especially on a TTB.
I always replace with poly, mainly because it is firmer and doesn't cost "that" much more. I have been happy with it, but make sure you grease it really well when you are installing it.
When I installed a 4" susp lift in my TTB I also added poly pivot and radius arm bushings, and the truck handles waaaayyyy better then stock now.
And I just got some poly body mounts this AM in fact, just because I'm putting in a bodylift and I think they'll hold up better. Plus just the 2 replacement bushings under the radiator support from the dealership are *almost* double the price of the whole polyurethane kit I got form summitracing.com

x2.
That is exactly what I do. Replace the rubber with the poly.
