Guys,
I installed my dp-tuner f5 chip and the engine turn over fine. I then turn the truck off and walk inside my house, I came back out 10 minutes later and turn the truck on. The engine sounded like it wasn't get enough fuel and would die. The truck will only stay running if I move the tuner to 80t or above, but still was running badly. I took the chip off the truck on the result was still the same. The tunes are No start, stock, 80T, 80E. What could be the problem?
It maybe the wrong PCM base file.. that will trigger the PATS system to activate. or if the vehicle starts with the rapidly flashing PATS light then Jody probably deactivated the PATS system in the tune so you can just unplug the PATS module under the dash to eliminate the flashing light.
Have you scanned for codes? IIRC, if it is PATS, it should not be starting at all. Is your chip programmed for PATS? If not, it is Jody and Diane time.
Jody my name is Easton D. Thomas and I purchased my F5 chip from itp.com
ITP is a DP-Tuner dealer. Diane or Jody will help you out. I think that you didn't have the PATS turned on. I had that same issue with my PCM when I just got a flash on it. When I got the F5, I had them flash me the tunes I wanted that had PATS on them and no problems.
I still don't think this is a tuning issue. Did you install the chip with the ignition key OUT OF the cylinder?

Was the truck running or with the keys in the ignition when you did this?

yes I had the key out the ignition and the batteries disconnected. I noticed that the truck would only stay running when I move the tuner to the 80T or above. I got little nervous and drove it to the ford dealer down the street, the truck was bucking and had heavy black smoke comming out the mufler, also had strong fuel odor in the cabin of the truck. The ford dealer had me taked the tuner off and truck didn't star after the tuner was removed. The ford dealer reflash the truck and everything is now back to nornal. I'm sure the tuner is the problem!
I'm sure the problem was your insertion of the tuner. Why? Because I did it myself and needed to be reflashed. Step on the brake and the OD light goes on like you turned off OD, step again and the OD light goes off like you allowed the truck to go into OD. A reflash took care of that problem.
